Zombies, Harry Potter, witches, superheroes, Darth Vader and princesses stormed the campus Oct. 21. The cast of characters putting the fright or smiles into the school’s Costume Ball was amazing! A festive but scarily decorated Multipurpose Room provided the perfect place to let children and parents dance and have fun. The ball included light refreshments and taco caterer Peter Castillo of Fender Benderz. Great music by the DJ, "Q the Music Entertainment," kept everyone on their feet. This was the second Costume Ball hosted by the PTO. But the chills and thrills couldn’t happen without parent volunteers. For some, their work started that Friday morning. Some came out at night (cue the ghoul music)! Every month students collect box tops that can be redeemed by the PTO for cash. It’s an easy fundraiser. Each month students submit a sealable plastic bag of box tops to their teacher. (Make sure student’s name and teacher’s name is written on the bag!) Students collecting the most in each class enter a raffle. Box Tops chair Johana Flores announced the October raffle winners:

How about eating your way to help raise money for PTO-sponsored activities? Smokey Canyon BBQ in the Canyon Crest Towne Center will host the fundraiser on Thursday, Nov. 3, from 4-8:30 p.m. Order a meal and show the Smokey Canyon-PTO flier. The restaurant will donate 15 percent of sales to the PTO. Fliers were distributed last week, said Jill Peterson, event chair. The restaurant is at 5225 Canyon Crest Dr. in Riverside.

 

The PTO will honor Ms. Farris with Principal Appreciation Day on Tuesday, Nov. 1. Everyone can participate by bringing treats, gift cards, flowers, small presents or cards. Students can make her a thank-you card or something special. Drop off cards or gifts at the office anytime Tuesday.
